The Inca Trail that takes you from a point in the Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu, is the most sold route in Peru today.

For this reason, the Peruvian Government has limited entry to the Inca Trail to only 500 people per day, including guides and porters. The objective is to safeguard and protect the Camino from its depredation and gradual destruction.

However, the fact that only 500 people can enter, implies that there are thousands, who are left without the option of doing the Classic Inca Trail. For what has been said previously, the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, offers you the opportunity to do other Alternative Inca Trails, they will take you through typical trails of the high Andean area, along jungle paths.
